Jaime's Book Review: Iron King by Julie Kagawa

Synopsis:

Meghan Chase has a secret destiny—one she could never have imagined…
Something has always felt slightly off in Meghan's life, ever since her father disappeared before her eyes when she was six. She has never quite fit in at school…or at home.
When a dark stranger begins watching her from afar, and her prankster best friend becomes strangely protective of her, Meghan senses that everything she's known is about to change.
But she could never have guessed the truth—that she is the daughter of a mythical faery king and is a pawn in a deadly war. Now Meghan will learn just how far she'll go to save someone she cares about, to stop a mysterious evil no faery creature dare face…and to find love with a young prince who might rather see her dead than let her touch his icy heart. (Barnes and Noble)

  • Pub. Date: February 2010
  • Publisher: Harlequin
  • Format: Paperback , 368pp
  • Age Range: Young Adult

Meghan Chase is an awesome character. I love how loyal, independent, and trusting she is (although that gets her into some sticky situations throughout the book). Julie Kagawa did an amazing job at developing Meghan's character through the whole book.
Julie Kagawa's ability to make you feel like you are literally in the shoes of Meghan chase is amazing. Throughout the whole book I felt like I could see what Meghan saw and could feel everything that Meghan felt (anger, happiness, sorrow, worry, and so much more).
Over all this book is amazing and if you haven't read it I advise you to do so. I plan on reading the rest of the series and reviewing those as well. Julie Kagawa is an amazing writer. The best part of the book was the reference to the Shakespearean play " A Midsummer's Night Dream". That is by far my favorite Shakespearean play of all time. Julie Kagawa is my all-time favorite author.

I give this book a 10/10 rating

*I do have to give a warning though there is some cursing in the book so please be advised of that*
